Has it really been a year since my last blog?! I do apologies! It's been a very busy 12 months but now I have access to my site and blog on my phone, fingers crossed I can keep it updated.
I still have my little boys from last year and now have 2 little girls as well. As far as my under 8's go, I am full. The last 12 months has seen a fantastic Christmas party for the children thrown by some childminders of Merthyr-it was a fantastic party and we even managed to have a visit from father Christmas himself!! We've been doing arts and crafts, planting sunflower seeds, learning to crawl and walk and talk, some children have started full time school, we've fed the ducks, played outside, been to st fagans, Cardiff castle, cyfarthfa castle, and lots lots more! Over the next month or so we plan on taking part in the bug toddle for charity, having a party for the jubilee and enjoying alot of outdoor fun for national childminding week with surprise guests.....hedgehogs!!!! I personally can't wait! The kids will love it! Wow what a busy few months! The 2 little boys have settled in amazingly and are fantastic to look after. The eldest is off to full time school so won't see as much of him :(
During the holidays though we have enjoyed a trip to the cinema to see HOP which I thoroughly enjoyed! as did the children lol! Lots of trips to the park, jumping in puddles, painting, arts and crafts and a trip to St Fagans. Since the boys started I have also had 2 little girls start who are also fantastic to look after! Full of smiles and giggles. Makes me feel fantastic knowing that they are happy to come to me. I am about to send off my request to be registered for 6 children (instead of 3) which will be very exciting indeed! Anyway, apologies for the quick blog but still busy busy! Hope you are all well Becki x Well what a busy month it has been! I have signed 2 new contracts with 2 fantastic little brothers. We had a settling in period this week that went really well, another one next week and then the week after they start officially. I really can't wait!
Unfortunately tomorrow is the last day for one of my little ones. He was one of my first minded children so I will be really sad to see him go but this week has been all about what he would like to do! Tuesday we went to adventureland and today we went to Cyfarthfa Castle and fed the ducks! Not sure what tomorrow will bring! The Big Toddle on the 1st of June was a big success! The toddlers did fantastic on their walk raising lots of money. The full amount will be announced at the end of this month. By the way we are still collecting if anyone would like to sponsor this children? All money raised goes to Barnardo's. A very worthy cause. This week has been National Childminding Week and a few childminders and their children in the Merthyr area got together to celebrate the occasion. Our theme was aspirations and the children dressed up - we had police, fire men and women, nurses and my favourite was Noddy! We had visits from fire men, police men and the Mayor of Merthyr attend our little celebration! The children had lots of fun, although a few were a little too scared to sit in the fire engine or police car! Generally a good day had by all though. Half term was fantastic! Thanks to the fantastic weather we went to Thomastown Park. The children had a wonderful day, as did we Childminders. Football, swings, slides, climbing, picnics, ice cream, scooters, grass twister, and a lot more. Anyway enough babbling from me I think. I will hopefully update my blog before July but if I don't, enjoy the rest of June! Becki I hope that everyone had a nice Easter and enjoyed the Royal Wedding weekend?! Yesterday was my birthday and so the children and I made some Birthday fairy cakes! The children got to dress up as chefs with their aprons on and hats - they also found a hat for me to wear! We had to make sure that our hair didn't stray into the cake mix! They put the ingredients into the blender and pressed the button to mix it all up. I had to help them put the mixture into the cases - otherwise the cakes would have been tiny and they would have eaten all of the mixture! I put the cakes in the oven and then we enjoyed them after our tea. The children helped make my birthday very special, I coulnd What a busy week and it isn't over yet!! Monday was a normal fun filled day - finger painting Easter Egg Cards ready for Easter, which are still drying today! The children got carried away with the amount of paint they used but they had fun and that's what matters. We also used blotting paint pens which they discovered if you banged them on the card made pretty platters across the paper! Tuesday was the school play. I was a very proud Mummy watching my 2 year old up on stage singing with her class and I was a very proud childmider watching both of "my boys" on stage singing in their loud voices all dressed up! Such a moving afternoon for me.
Wednesday I had a training day for my Diploma so sadly didnt get to look after the children but it will be worth it in the end when I have this qualification under my belt! Today...Wow...what a day! Today was 1 of the boy's last day with me sadly and so once school finished we did everything he wanted (which the other children also wanted to do!) We went to the park and had fun going high on the swings, safely I'd like to add! We had fun on the slide to see who was the fastest, 1 little boy was so fast he kept coming off the slide onto his bum, getting up and giggling! We then got the paints out and did finger painting and hand prints! A lot of mess but a lot more fun was had by us all. We had a special tea of Chicken Curry, rice and Naan bread followed by jelly ice cream. The children loved it but boy did they get in a mess with the jelly and ice cream - sorry mum's! I gave the children their Easter Eggs today - that went down well with them! I am looking forward to the Easter Holidays and all the fun that we can get up to! The last few months have been fantastic! I have been very busy looking after children and introducing them to different holidays from around the world!
Burns Night was very enjoyable with the children colouring in Scottish flags and pictures of men in kilts. They loved having Haggis for tea and came back for seconds and thirds in 1 little boy's case. We've celebrated Chinese New Year by making chinese paper fans, Ground Hog day by predicting when summer will come (it should be coming soon!), Pancake day with lovely pancakes, St David's Day by making Welsh Dragons and Love spoons out of wooden spoons, World Book Day by making book marks (I gave the children new books for them to use their book marks in - they were over joyed!), Valentines day by making cards and Mother's day by making flowers and cards. I am looking forward to making things for Easter - we are going to make some fairy cakes and decorate them with icing, colour and chocolate - I have already been given my orders by 1 little boy :) We have been on lots of outtings: we have walked to school when the sun has been shining and walked home when its been nice and we have either missed the bus or its been full! We have been to Cardiff Museum to see the Dinosaurs and then onto Cardiff Museum for lunch. The children loved this and wanted to go back to see the Dinosaurs, after already spending 30 minutes with them! The children, with very little help from me, have made a weather board which is in my hallway to go with our calendar. They've coloured in pictures and made a rainbow out of tissue paper. Every day we update the day of the week, the date and what the weather is like and then monthly we change the month. The children love doing this as soon as they get in from school. We have enjoyed going to feed the ducks at Cyfarthfa park a few times when the weather has been nice. I have had to ensure that the bread we take is fresh though as they have a tendancy to eat more than they give to the ducks! Trips to the park is a must, they love running around, going on the swings and seesaw and to see how high they can go on the swings. Trips into town after school on the bus are also a highlight enjoyed by the children. They love going on the "wobbly" bus and helping me to do shopping, either by picking something or paying or just carrying something. The best bit for them though is going back on the "wobbly" bus to Becki's house and dressing up, or doing some crafts or just generally playing! We love to have a sing song and regularly sit down with the song book that I made which is full of nursery rhymes! I think that might just be enough for my first ever blog! I hope that you come back to find out what happens with our Easter Crafts and school holidays!
