As a registered childminder I aim to work in close partnership with all parents to meet the needs of their children.
Local Consideration If there is any aspect of my service that you are not completely satisfied with please bring it to my attention. This can be done verbally and every effort will be made to resolve the issue through frank and open discussion. Or, if you would prefer, you can put the complaint formally in writing or by email to myself: [email protected]
Every effort will be made to resolve the complaint within 14 days. This may get extended to 28 days but only with consent from all parties involved. Once the complaint is resolved I will confirm in writing the outcome of the complaint.
I have a mandatory duty to investigate all complaints relating to the national standards for childminders.
Formal Consideration As a sole trader I do not have a Formal Consideration Procedure but if you wish to take your complaint further you can contact the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales on:
01443 848 527/8
Concurrent Consideration Depending on the nature of the complaint, I will investigate it myself or it will be passed onto the Care and Social Service Inspectorate Wales to investigate.
You can get impartial advice from the NCMA Information Line on:
0800 169 4486
All complaints will be treated sensitively. You will be notified of the outcome and receive a copy of any written records regarding the complaint within 28 days. This may be extended to 35 days depending on circumstances.
I follow the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales Complaints Procedure and Guidance.
I will keep a written record of all complaints, recording the following information:
The name of complainant
Nature of the complaint
Date and time of the complaint
Action taken in response to the complaint
The outcome of the complaint investigation
Details of the information given to the complainant
A summary of the complaint to provide on request to any parent of a child I care for and for the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales. The summary for the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales will contain those items required by the Inspectorate. The summary for parents will respect confidentiality and will not contain the full details listed above.
Records will be kept for 10 years.
The National Minimum Standards for Childminders state that:
“children and their parents are confident that their complaints will be listened to, taken seriously and acted on” and that “the childminder ensures that he/she operates a simple, clear and accessible complaints procedure…which is available to parents and which includes details about how to contact the relevant office of the CSSIW”
