Standard 4: Meeting Individual needs During the first few meetings, each child’s individual needs will be discussed and recorded on the NCMA Child Record Form. I will also record any other information the parents or I find relevant. This information will be reviewed on a regular basis which will be agreed with the parents. Where possible all new children and families to my service will be offered a “settling in” period, also to be arranged with the parents.
My childminding service is available to all children. In cases where children have additional needs, each case will be individually assessed. I will ensure that I will undertake any specialised training necessary to help ensure the needs of the children are met. Once in my care, if I identify any additional needs, I will discuss my findings with the child’s parents.
I will introduce Welsh to the children in my care. I will ensure that I will learn some basic phrases of any preferred language of the children that I care for.
I am aware of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice.
If intimate care is necessary, I will respect the privacy of the child whilst maintaining their dignity.
I will involve the child in planning activities, taking into account their age, stage of development and level of understanding.
