As a registered childminder I aim to provide a childminding service that allows boys and girls to learn and develop in a safe, secure, home-based environment. I am registered to care for 5 children under the age of 8. I am insured to care for children up to the age of 15. I will consider care of any child no matter what their range of needs. I will assess the needs of the child and whether I can accommodate their needs, taking into consideration the needs of the children that I already care for. I offer settling in periods which parents are welcome to stay for a couple of hours and then the children can be left in my care, free of charge, to ensure that the children are comfortable within my setting. I will offer a trial period. During that time if I feel that I can not give the child the correct care, or the parents believe I can not meet the needs of their child, the contract can cease.
My home consists of a lounge, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a separate toilet. All of these rooms are registered for my childminding apart from bedroom 1. I have access to a communal garden area where the children will be able to play under my supervision. I have a daughter who is 3.5 years old. She is very sociable and loves playing with other children. My partner does not live with me but visits on weekends and occasionally stays over night. He is also fully CRB checked. I occasionally have visitors to my home but these visits will be kept to out of hours unless I have prior permission from parents.
When organising activities I take into consideration age, ability and stage of development. All activities provided will be stimulating and age and development appropriate. Some adult led activities include arts and crafts, walks and baking/cooking.
There are 2 parks in walking distance from my home and Language and Play groups are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Twyncarmel and Gellideg. Day trips will be arranged in advance and written parental permission will be required. I have my own car which will be used to pick up and drop off children if required. All vehicle documents can be seen on request.
My first language is English. I will introduce children to the Welsh language as this will be used in schools. If I have children in my care who speak another language, I will endeavour to learn a few key phrases which will also be introduced to all of the children in my care.
I do not have fixed hours of work: my hours of work will be negotiated on an individual basis with the parent(s) and a contract signed with these stated hours. I am registered to work from 6am until 9pm and I am happy to work 7 days a week, including bank holidays. I am able to work hours that fit shift patterns.
I have a complaints and dealing with emergencies procedure which can be found within my policies and procedures.
This statement of purpose will be kept under review and revised as appropriate. Where practicable the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales will be notified of any revision at least 28 days before it takes effect.
